The New Jersey Community Solar Project Finder is an online tool developed by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) in partnership with Sustainable Jersey to help New Jersey customers connect with community solar projects in their area. Residents can enter their zip code, and the tool will provide a list of available projects and helpful information about each project, including the date the project began operation, any eligibility requirements, estimated savings, subscription contract terms, and the link to learn more and sign up. The tool also directs users to a community solar glossary and Frequently Asked Questions page developed by NJBPU and Sustainable Jersey to explain how community solar works and define common terms. By helping residents locate nearby projects and understand and compare various project criteria, NJBPU and Sustainable Jersey hope the tool will expand access to community solar across the state, particularly for low-income and environmental justice communities, as more projects come online. NJBPU approved approximately 240MW of new solar capacity in the first two years of the New Jersey Community Solar Pilot Program and is working to transition the successful pilot to a permanent program.
